The day Johnny McGuirk and Derry claimed a famous Croke Park win over Dublin

The counties meet in Sunday’s Division 1 football league final with Derry hoping to replicate their 1993 win.

DERRY TRAVEL TO Croke Park on Sunday heading towards a collision with the reigning All-Ireland and league champions.

Dublin are the warmest of favourites to retain their Allianz Division 1 league title but Derry will be hoping to evoke memories of a famous day that the county’s footballers enjoyed in Croke Park.

Back in 1993, Derry enjoyed their most glorious season as they swept to All-Ireland glory and it was Dublin they pipped at the semi-final stage.

A frenetic clash ended 0-15 to 0-14 in Derry’s favour with Johnny McGuirk the hero with that winning point.

Relive the magic, Derry fans.
