FORMER CORK CITY striker John O’Flynn has rejoined the club after departing the club for England back in 2008.
The 31-year-old, who spent six years at Turner’s Cross, was part of the successful Rebels team which won the League of Ireland title in 2005 and the 2007 FAI Cup. However, he left to join Barnet and has also enjoyed a spell with Exeter City since.
Cork, who currently sit second in the table, have recently lost the services of Anthony Elding but today announced that Cobh native O’Flynn has signed until the end of the season — pending international clearance.
“I’m delighted to be back, it’s like the good old days,” O’Flynn said. “The lads are flying and there is a good buzz around the place.
I went to the Limerick game the other night, and you could see the buzz is back. The lads played some great football and they ran out comfortable winners. They play good attacking football and I am looking forward to being a part of that.
“I’ve trained for the last few days and I have been really impressed with the standard; some of the young lads have great quality. It’s a big game Sunday, so we need to try and kick on. The lads have done really well all season, so hopefully I can play a part in a good season.”
It is Cork’s second signing this week as Cillian Morrison has also arrived from UCD.
