As a journalist do you feel you have to report heavily on a retirement even if you think/know the player will return in a few months time?

I always know straight away by the type of player that retires whether its a publicity stunt or for real. It was obvious that DJ Carey, Lar Corbett were going to return and its obvious that John Mullane will return. When someone honest like Noel Hickey retires you know he is gone for good.

I can already see the speech from Mullane upon his return saying he made a rash decision and he misses playing so much and he loves Waterford etc. His return will either come the week before Waterford play the relegation League match so he can try save them or soon after so he can say he wants to help them improve.
