Cork native John Egan scored a belter for Southend last night

The defender is on loan with Phil Brown’s side from Sunderland.

JOHN EGAN IS certainly making an impression on his 28-day loan with Southend.

The Leesider — a son of Kerry GAA legend of the same name — popped up to score this screamer against Scunthorpe last night.

It’s a first goal in senior football for the Ireland U21 centre-half.  Egan had a lengthy spell on the sidelines last season after breaking his leg while on loan at Bradford City.

Here’s the video from last night:

The term screamer is much abused, but not in this case, an absolute screamer it certainly was, well done Mr Egan.
