Decision on Allen's future in Limerick set for next Tuesday

There is speculation that this year’s Munster title winning manager will not be going forward for another term.

LIMERICK GAA CHIEFS held talks with John Allen and his senior hurling management team last night as uncertainty continues over the reign of the Cork man with this year’s Munster champions.

There has been much speculation over Allen’s future after his two-year term of office ended when they lost to Clare in last month’s All-Ireland semi-final.

It is still unclear whether he will go for another term in charge and another meeting is set to take place after this weekend, when a decision will then be made for the 2014 season.

Limerick chairman Oliver Mann hopes to be in a position to update the county committee at their meeting next Tuesday, September 10th.

But there is still strong speculation that Allen will not be in charge next year despite having lead Limerick this year to their first provincial crown in 17 years with a final win over Cork in the Gaelic Grounds in July.

They had earlier overturned Tipperary in the Gaelic Grounds in the Munster semi-final.

If he doesn’t stay on board , on behalf of all Limerick fans , John Allen your a legend. But I’d much rather he stays on this up and coming team need consistency and they also play for him as a manager. We need to build on this year and prove Limerick can mix it again at the top level. Rumours are rife though that if he leaves Anthony Daly will be approached. Not many top managers about these days and defo no one in Limerick fit for the job after all half our County teams are managed/coached by former Clare hurlers.

No small coincidence that Anthony Daly has yet to commit to Dublin for next year. Bet he’ll be watching developments very carefully Tue night. Feeling that he may have taken the Dubs as far as possible and a nice cosy move well funded up the road would be just the trick. I hope John Allen stays at least another year as were def on the right road albeit a very lacklustre semifinal display. Anyways id hate to ne beholding to a Clare man if ever Liam Mac was to land on Shannonside. # Luimneach Abu.

Allen is a fantastic manager. We’d certainly welcome him down in Waterford. First we need our very own JP I think.
