Joey O’Brien withdraws from provisional Irish squad

The West Ham defender only recently returned to action following a longstanding injury.

JOEY O’BRIEN HAS withdrawn from Ireland’s provisional squad for their summer matches.

The West Ham defender only recently returned to action, after he was ruled out for three months with a dislocated shoulder at the end of January.

A statement to announce the news read as follows.

“The Football Association of Ireland today (Monday) confirmed that following discussions between FAI and West Ham’s medical teams, Joey O’Brien has been released from Martin O’Neill’s provisional squad to manage his off season medical programme.

“Martin O’Neill’s provisional squad now stands at 31 players.”

    Fair play to big sam.stuck with the lad through all the injuries.had him at bolton and now west ham.basically playing on one leg chap woulda been as good as steve finnan
