DONEGAL MANAGER JIM McGuinness looked like a man with a weight removed from his shoulders in the minutes following yesterday’s triumph over Cork at Croke Park.
However, it didn’t take long for McGuinness’ mind to turn to his next trip to Croke Park, happily in a month’s time rather than a year. The Tir Conail chief began signalling areas which can improve when either Dublin or Mayo provide the opposition in the September showpiece.
“We had a lot of wides as well – a good few wides that would normally be tapped over. i Suppose that’s the pressure of the occasion.”
“Overall though,” McGuinness soon added, “we were very, very happy and I’m delighted for the players. They’ve worked very hard and it’s great for them that the work they’re putting in is reflected now in the opportunity to play in the biggest game of the year which is the All Ireland final.”
