THERE’S A HEATED debate raging in TheScore.ie Towers today following this article on why “men wearing full football replica kits should be outlawed.”
Now, while we can all agree that full kits are only acceptable for those under the age of 16 and actually playing sport, there is some disagreement as to what is and isn’t okay when it comes to wearing jerseys.
Here are a few thoughts from our writers:
“Retro jerseys are always acceptable for me. They’re coming into fashion a lot lately as well.”
“No issue with men in jerseys (as long as there is no name on it; on that, I think getting your own name is way worse than getting Ronaldo etc). “
“I’ve an issue with fat lads wearing the rugby jerseys these days. Bring back the old cotton ones for the fat lads.”
“I think wearing a jersey outside of sporting occasions is no less acceptable than wearing a band t shirt outside of a gig.”
“Jerseys are only acceptable in public while playing or watching sporting events. If you’re in the English Market on Sunday with a Cork jersey on while Tipperary are hammering the Rebels in Croke Park, you’re doing it wrong.”
“I think it’s fine to wear a GAA jersey with a number on it if your older brother made the county minor team.”
