JASON QUIGLEY IS set for his professional boxing debut at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas next month and he’s teamed up with the man behind Donegal GAA anthem ‘Jimmy’s Winning Matches’ to record a song for his bout on Saturday July 12th.

Kilcar singer-songwriter Rory Gallagher has recorded the tune ‘Make Way For The Fighting Irish’ for rising Irish boxing star Quigley, who was an Irish and European amateur champion last year.

Quigley also became the first Irish man ever to reach a final and win a silver medal at the AIBA World Amateur Boxing Championships. He has yet to learn his opponent for the fight and is currently in training in California ahead of his Las Vegas date.

Ballybofey native Quigley was holidaying in Lanzarote last November and met up with Gallagher at the Island Bar, the live music venue he owns.

‘Make Way For The Fighting Irish’ will be available on iTunres this week costing €0.99 with all monies raised being split evenly between Animal Heaven Animal Rescue, Forgotten Horses and the Donegal Hospice.

Here’s a reminder of what Gallagher sounded like the last time he composed a sporting song.
