BOHEMIANS HAVE RE-SIGNED Jason Byrne as he chases the League of Ireland all-time goal record.
Byrne, who turns 36 next month, returns for a second spell at Dalymount Park where he will team up with his former club-mate, manager Owen Heary.
The Dubliner scored 17 goals with Bray Wanderers last season and now stands on 205, just 30 short of Brendan Bradley’s record tally.
“Jason has that killer instinct up front that we lacked at times last season,” Heary said.
As long as he’s given good service, he will score. Give Jason two or three chances in a game and he’ll find the net. You don’t lose that instinct.
The younger lads will gain so much from him too. His movement, positioning, technique – the lads will be watching and learning from him every day in training.
Byrne played three seasons with Bohs from 2008 to 2010, winning two league titles and an FAI Cup.
Heary also confirmed that another former team-mate, Stephen Geoghegan, will join the Bohs backroom as a scout and opposition analyst.
