THERE WAS SOME fantastic news for Japan’s Sevens rugby team this morning as they beat Italy to qualify as a core team on the Sevens World Series.
The Japanese side beat the Italians 26-5 at the Hong Kong Sevens are were presented with their qualifying champions’ trophy by All Blacks legend Jonah Lomu. They were already leading by 21 points in the final minute when Kosuke Hashino attempted to finish with a flourish. His swan dive lacked grace and, most importantly, execution.
England take on New Zealand in the final in just under two hours’ time while Scotland play France in the Bowl final and Wales take on South Africa for the Plate. Ireland… do not have a Mens’ Sevens team.
