Januzaj burst onto the scene during David Moyes' tenure at United.

Adnan Januzaj reminds me of Cruyff - David Moyes

The Scot brought the Belgian teenager into the Manchester United first team last season.

Updated at 10.13

FORMER MAN UNITED manager David Moyes sees shades of Dutch legend Johan Cruyff in young midfielder Adnan Januzaj.

The Scot brought the Belgian into the first team last season, a year in which the youngster’s performances were one of the brighter spots in a difficult period at Old Trafford.

Moyes, now in charge at Real Sociedad, believes that Januzaj has the talent to go a long way at United.

“Some youngsters get overawed. Not Adnan. I realised that when he came to train with the first team soon after I joined,” Moyes told FourFourTwo.

“I decided to take him on tour with the first team within minutes of watching him. He wasn’t timid but hungry to succeed. He was one of the tour’s bright spots.

“He possesses a level of self-assured arrogance, which is a positive as he’s not too arrogant. On the contrary, he’s a bright lad who is mature for his age.

“He’s a wonderfully gifted player with great balance and the ability to go past people. When I see his poise on the ball, he has characteristics of Johan Cruyff.”

He’d need to start showing a bit of ability this season too then! There’s midwives that have made cleaner deliveries!

I hate when players are compared to greats at such a young age, its like a curse, pressure to live up to ridiculous claims…

Instead of who Arthur? Sterling, Coutinho? Haha no chance. Van Gaal knows it too, giving Young more game time than him.
Barely had an assist all season, only scored a few goals, spent most of his time on the ground, already one of the most booked players for diving in Premier league history.
Has talent but seen nothing yet, as one comment above said, could be the next Jordi Cryff, too much pressure on his shoulders!

Firstly Young is not been played as an out and out winger so fail for that one ,secondly he’s actually scoring quite regularly for the reserves so I for one wouldn’t be worried and doubt if LVG is either. But is nice to see you showing your concern .

Van Gaal changes his formation like the weather, 442, 352, etc. Are u saying Young hasn’t played wide left or right this season? Oh lord!
Who cares about the reserves, he couldn’t score or create where it mattered!

The hype around this lad was unreal, he scored 2 goals against Sunderland 2 years ago and the media went mad talking about him, saying he was going to be one of the best players in the premier league:-0

In fairness to Young he’s played quite well this season so it might seem unfair to leave him out, also with Januzaj he’s just missing that final ball part to his game so I would think until that improves he won’t be see as competition for a place . But it’s gas because the only ones that are taking him up are the media and now DM apparently which I can guarantee he said nothing like the headline here. But it could be worse the manager could have come out and compared him to Messi or have new delusional reports now that say that Sterling is worth more the Fabregas, Sanchez and Bale.

Why do pool fans always take the bate so easy. Can’t you see that Bazinga is fishing big time. Like Benitez, falling into the trap.

Aside from fleeting glimpses there’s nothing continuous there for me. If someone said PSG we’re offering a decent amount I’d take it no problem. I know players need to be given time but I don’t get all the hype. Hopefully I turn out to be wrong.
