IRELAND ASSISTANT MANAGER Roy Keane would love to have Jack Grealish in the senior squad but is unsure about whether the talented youngster will switch allegiance to England.
18-year-old Aston Villa winger Grealish, currenlty on duty in Germany with the Ireland U21s, has impressed during three appearances for the Premier League club this season and is undoubtedly the most promising player currently in Noel King’s U21s squad.
However, the Birmingham-born teenager told Martin O’Neill recently that he wants time to consider his international career before accepting a senior call-up — casting doubts over his future with Ireland.
“All I know is that the manager has met with him,” Villa number two Keane said today. “I speak to him. He is a really good player, I think he is playing for the U21s this week, tomorrow night. He will have a decision to make when he’s ready.
“We’re not putting him under pressure. We would love to have him on board. He’s really, really good player and we know we haven’t got a massive group to pick from so if he comes on board it would be absolutely fantastic.”
