WHEN IRELAND SQUADS are announced now a lot of people go straight to the ‘G’ list to see whether the Jack Grealish declaration issue can finally be put to rest.
Last month there were reports that Grealish had finally decided to represent Ireland but that was subsequently doubted by the player himself and since then he hasn’t been named in Martin O’Neill’s senior squad for the Scotland and USA games or U21 manager Noel King’s latest selection.
The Aston Villa midfielder has been capped six times for the Ireland U21 team but he won’t be appearing in next month’s friendlies against USA and Russia in Marbella.
A 19-year old turning down a trip to Marbella? Irish fans should be very worried.
Here is a reminder of what Ireland fans might be able to look forward to in the years to come.
Oh! Worse than shite!! How very dare you sure weren’t we second only a few weeks ago….. oh I see 7 losses on the bounce has a tendency to make people think that. Wondering it myself if he is that good surely a team that took something like 500 mins to score a goal could do with the boy wonder on the pitch? The chance of him doing a Le tisser and staying loyal to his boyhood club are slim. few decent games let alone a season or 2 and the vultures will be circling off to Chelsea or man City. So come play for Ireland. You could do with a break from the pressure.
yep pretty worried.its not like this kind of trip would do any harm to him in terms of development or fitness and essentially if it was a thing a bout him ‘concentrating’ on getting into the Villa squad then I don’t see how two games at international level albeit at U21 level harm it. Put it this way, Harry Kane took time to break into the Spurs first team but you didnt see him pulling out of England under 21 duty to ‘concentrate’ on doing so.So baring the obvious it seems hes strongly considering the switch to England.
As a villa fan will personally have a word with the Birmingham Messi. Might even get him to pull his socks up a bit and a bigger pair of shin guards cause if he turns out to be half the player the media are making him out to be you can all buy me a drink when we win the world cup! Boy has talent but if he doesn’t want to wear the green that’s his choice and his loss. If he plays for England the country of his birth of the media will savage him. But it’s his choice and can’t promise he will listen to me.
He’s a great talent & could be a great player for Ireland. He’s young & needs games & not to be siting on the bench at Aston Villa. If he isn’t committed 100% to Ireland let him off to play for England & be blown up to be the next big thing & flop. I only want fully committed Irish blooded players playing for the Repbulic. Not wanna be England or Scottish flops. Exciting times ahead in Irish football#COYBIG
I reckon by him not declaring for ireland says a lot. Could of done it long ago. And I don’t want him to play for us if we’re his second option even if he does hit the heights.
There should be no more about this guy until he makes his mind up. MON is right as he won’t beg anyone to play for us & nor should he. His head has been turned by England. After spending his entire under age career with us if he wants to jump ship more power to him. There’s no guarantee hell even make it. Remember the likes if Jamie O Hara? Where is he now???? As I said leave Grealish be. He has his big deal with Villa now. Another young soccer prima Donna has been born!
He’s been asked on numerous occasions to come into Irish squads and refused… As good as he is it’s time to forget about him… He obviously isn’t 100% committed to the green jersey I suggest forget him… Enough players that are willing to pull on the jersey
Well all the nice comments that have been made here will help make his mind up. He was born in England, most of his friends are probably English. He is undoubtedly getting feelers from Gareth Southgate. He’s 19. Give him space and time.
So what when he couldn’t make the English youth squads Ireland was ideal for him? His dad is a dub if my son was born in England he wouldn have a choice he wouldn be playing for the queen ! They can have him he’s good but not a world beater
So your son wouldn’t get a say in his own future? You would decide for him ? Very democratic of you. Thankfully this kids father seems to think his child should have a say in his own future. How English of him !
I really wish people would stop making a big deal about him. He cant get into a villa side that are desperate bad. that highlights video is from low level english football wait and see how he gets on in the premeirship beside the likes of Matic, Ramires etc. who will walk over him to get the ball back
The Grealish thing has become tiresome. He’s a very promising player, but no more than that. As much as he could become a star, there’s nothing to say that he won’t eventually find his level in League One either. League One, by the way, is the level he did reasonably well at while on loan at Notts County last season.
Jack wants to concentrate on his club that’s bullshit!!wat about the other lads in squad and their clubs?Pick the lad’s that are proud to wear the green jersey forget about this lad he oviously doesn’t want to play for us.Great for the young LOI players getting their chance COYBIG!!!!
Sick of these will he wont he stories. The player and his father are both 100% clear that he is wanted to play for Ireland. It is up to him to decide. Fair play to Martin O’Neill for not fawning to the media on this one or other cases. It’s up to him to come to the manager and say I want to play. If he decides otherwise then that is the case and good luck to him. The idea our national manager should be chasing players cap in hand is a media invention trying to get another stupid story going. O’Neill has said he wants him now over to you Jack.

People need to calm down about this lad. He’s a good prospect, but he can’t get in a villa side who are worse than shite.

On the plus side, that Jack Byrne looks a class prospect bit like Scholsey

Why won’t he just decide !!!! His dad needs to tell him his roots !
He has two decent games for villa and now is the prodigal son? Massively over hyped and not worth the billing he is receiving
The u21s should be a feeder for senior team, so if he does not want to play for seniors give someone else the chance.

Id rare my child to know where his family and his roots are from he wouldn want to play for them I can assure you
Over hyped. He could play a few for England u21s then one international friendly for the senior English squad, then end up like Zaha….
I really wish people would stop making a big deal about him.
