It’s on, Arsene: Fergie claims RVP interest

“There are other clubs interested in the player. We’ve shown an interest and that’s where we’re at at the moment.”

MANCHESTER UNITED MANAGER Alex Ferguson has confirmed he is interested in signing Robin van Persie from Arsenal.

The Gunners captain has already pulled out of his club’s pre-season tour of Asia in the hope of forcing a move away as the battle over his future continues.

Premier League champions Manchester City are believed to be closest to the Dutchman’s signature, but Ferguson has revealed that the Red Devils are one of several sides to have their eye on the forward, who has less than 12 months to run on his contract at the Emirates Stadium.

“Obviously Arsenal have given out the fact that we’ve made a bid for him,” he told MUTV. ”We try to keep business as close as possible to us until the moment we conclude a deal. There’s no point talking about something that might not happen.

Van Persie scored 36 goals in all competitions for Arsenal in 2011-12, playing a big part in dragging an underperforming side to third place in the Premier League.

Beg to differ but other reports say that he is favouring a move to Juventus , but if he has any sence he will go to Utd , Fergie is building again and that can only mean more trophies and success. If he doesn’t then he’s money motivated and moves to city.

  • if Van Persie signs for United. They will win the title and bring the trophy back where it belongs at Old Trafford. GGMU

    • I’m not so sure, we are strong up front, I’d be much more excited over a top class central midfielder. I also have doubts over whether him and Rooney could effectively dove tail, it could equally be either epic or shocking, not to mention splashing that amount of cash on a 29 year old who when the time comes to get rid will have no real sell on value

    • As a united fan I can only hope he breaks something before he signs anything with us cause it’s bound to happen that he will be a crock again he is 30 now we should go after a 22 year old that has no injury record

    • Like they wouldn’t sell to city!!!
RVP will be motivated by wages, that is why he won’t go to united. Maybe Crewe have more youngsters or frank Stapleton might come out of retirement too?

  • This RVP saga is as fuppin boring now at this stage. It’s all Arsenals fault anyway I reckon. Wenger trying to be shrewd with the deal. Might as well go to City, earn uber coinage and retire a wealthy man back in Rotterdam…
