It’s all coming up Bradford! Bantams reinstated into FA Cup

First they dump Arsenal out of the Capital One Cup; now they’ve won their FA Cup appeal. Not a bad 24 hours…

BRADFORD CITY WERE were given fresh reason to celebrate when they won an appeal against their expulsion from this season’s FA Cup for fielding an ineligible player.

The fourth-tier club, who stunned Arsenal in the League Cup quarter-finals last night, were removed from the FA Cup because they did not receive written permission in time for Newcastle United loanee Curtis Good to play in their second-round tie with Brentford in November.

However, the Football Association decided to allow them back into the competition after reviewing their case, although they did fine the League Two club.

Bradford’s match with Brentford ended in a 1-1 draw and the sides will now meet again in a replay at Brentford next Tuesday, with the winners to face Southend United in the third round.

“We can confirm that on appeal the club has now been reinstated back into the FA Cup competition and has been fined for its actions,” read a statement from the club.

“We deeply regret our breach of the rules and are currently reviewing our procedures to ensure no repeat of this situation.”

Bradford beat Premier League giants Arsenal 3-2 on penalties after a 1-1 draw at Valley Parade yesterday to book their place in the League Cup semi-finals.
