Quick Blow

It didn't take long for Andy Lee to stop Saul 'Baby' Duran last night

Lee hardly broke sweat in a quick defence of his NABA Middleweight title.

ANDY LEE’S SATURDAY night workout was over before it ever really got started.

The Limerick middleweight wasted no time in stopping Mexican journeyman Saul “Baby” Duran in Michigan last night, defending his NABA title with a quick second-round stoppage.

Earlier this week, Lee said that Duran would serve as a “stay busy fight” while he waits for his shot at a world title later this year.

But the 39-year-old challenger hardly threw a punch before a flurry of head and body blows saw the fight waved off after just 54 seconds of the second round.

“They should have let the fight go longer. Let him get knocked out,” Lee said after improving his record to 28-1 (Detroit Free Press).

“A lot of people came to watch this fight. I would have liked more of a contest. But he took the fight at short notice, so I kind of understand.”

Two to watch: the National Football League games you really shouldn’t miss today
