TWO AUSTRIAN FANS who were robbed of their money and match tickets for tonightโs international against Ireland have been helped out by supportersโ group You Boys in Green.
The men were mugged near the Guinness Storehouse on St Jamesโ Street yesterday and contacted the Austrian fansโ embassy about the incident.
The information was subsequently shared around social media sites and after being posted on prominent forum YBIG.ie, one of the commenters suggested they make donations to reimburse the unlucky fans.
โOne of the lads who was the victim of something similar while away supporting Ireland thought it would be a good idea to have a whiparound,โ Liam Murray of YBIG told TheScore this afternoon.
A sum of around โฌ500 has been raised so far while the FAI have agreed to replace their tickets for the World Cup qualifier between Ireland and Austria at Lansdowne Road.
As well as that, the fans have explained that any money they receive on top of the amount they lost will go to two charities which YBIG work alongside โ Aoibheannโs Pink Tie and Share.
โWeโve also been contacted by a number of companies who are keen to help out. Boylesports said they will donate โฌ500 and Guinness have offered a free visit to the Storehouse,โ Murray added.
Fair play to ye lads
Great story see there are still lots of good people out there.
Great story, just a pity we have such degenerates in our city robbing in the first place!!COYBIG!!
Good man Liam Murray.
Lovely gesture by YBIG. And Wow! โGuinness have offered a free visit to the Storehouse,โ
Looks like Guinness red thumbed you
Thatโs where they were robbed. You think thatโs the last place they would want to be.
Nice one Guinness, 2 x โฌ15 tickets. Reach a little deeper!
They should give them free drink for the day!!!
Come on, thereโs a recession. Surely diageo canโt afford any more than that?
Bit at least the Austrian fans in question wonโt go back home with too bad a taste in their mouths?
They might if they get a mouldy pintโฆ.
I had a pint in the storehouse once. It was fecking rotten!!! So yeah your probably right
Itโs the thought that counts!
Hope the ticket numbers the two lads had robbed were red flagged so whoever goes to use them this evening is at least captured on cctv let alone held until the guards have a chat with them.
Well done to all concerned, COYBIG!!!
Great stuff!
Now lets go and mug them Austrians on the pitch โ COYBIG!!
Read of their plight this morning and knew instantly that the โrally roundโ would happen quickly. Thatโs what makes me proud to be Irish. Credit to all involved . Cโmon Ireland !
Well done to them
What a great story!
a very bad, and โ a great storyโ !
Lovely gesture but how embarrassing for this 2 happen in our country fair play COYBIG and FAI
If youโre referring to the mugging I wouldnโt pay it a moments attention, it happens in every single town and city in the world, itโs 100% not an Irish thing. The response on the other hand is 100% Irish and Iโm delighted that what started as a tragedy for these Austrian tourists has turned into a great story for them to return home with.
Yeah for sure it happens everywhere. But I still hate it when it does, a Brazilian guest of mine got mugged for his iPhone last Sunday, I felt so embarrassed when it happened. Its a sh1t thing to happen anyone but even worse when youโre in a foreign country with no support network around you. Great remedy for these two Austrian lads, it couldnโt have turned out better for them.
Ah lovelyโฆonly in Ireland, we have our good points despite the shite going on around us.
The reason why our fans are so loved worldwide. Lads should be very proud of themselves!
YBIG one of the best supporters clubs out there. They do so much charity work. Well done You Boys In Green and not forgetting the many girls in the club as well.
Great to see another good news story from the greatest fans in the world.
Class gesture.
Fair Play to yez YBIG!
Strewth I hope someone put on a barbie and gave them a fosters to calm the nerves after the muggin. They travel all the way from down under Austria and thatโs how theyโre treated. YBIG are legends, fair play for your generous efforts.
My bus drove by a big group of Austrian fans and Nassau street and most of them had Fosters cans. Epic trolling?
Lovely gesture. Irish fans demonstrating once again why we are the best there is is.
On a side note hope word of the mugging didnโt spread to negatively to other Austrian fans. Few of them attacked couple of Gardai and bouncers outside Fitzsimons last night. Spread the love lads not the violence.
Wahey! Go on Ben, no better buachaill!
holy disgrace irish letting themselves down as usual nothing new there just hope it wont happen on the pitch tonight
The standards in trolling are terrible these days.
Nice to read that there are still some good people around. Well done indeed chaps!
Surprised they were able to help them considering our country has no money. Our bankers have left us in a right state
Donโt break Biffoโs law. This story has got nothing to do with bankers.
Bring comment is boring
*Boring
& weeeeโrrr back
stop posting irrelevant vomit
have to disagree with you there, its entirely relevant
Are you sure they werenโt robbed IN guinness house? Would nearly make more sense lmao :)
I suppose they will have to pay tax on the whip around! Things are tight ya know!
The good, the bad and the โฆ part three to follow.
Lansdowne roadโs a bit outdated at this stageโฆ
I see Rip Van Winkle has finally awoke.
Ha ha ha, classic
Now all we have to do is have a whipround for the Ireland team โwe was robbedโ BOOOM
