Well done to each and everyone of them. Theyโ€™ve brought huge honour and pride through their achievements. Iโ€™ll hold my counsel on Indaโ€™s presence in those picturesโ€ฆ

You will notice Tony that your comments werenโ€™t sought and wouldnโ€™t add to the wonderful occasion at which the Irish Taoiseach formally greeted and recognised the heroic participation by our Paralympians in representing the Nation over the last few weeks.

Exactly Mickโ€ฆthe paralympians. They do not need some attention grabbing politician shoving his face into a picture when he has already stated that heโ€™ll โ€˜see where future funding for sports goesโ€™..ie funding will be reduced. It should be about the athletes, their families and prehaps representatives of the paralympian movement and not a politician of any hue simply jumping on a bandwagon.

The paralympians definitely deserve the recognition, but do they really deserve having to pose in photos with the politicians who are simply jumping on the bandwagon?

Unnecessary trolling! If there wasnโ€™t an official reception youโ€™d say itโ€™s a disgrace that their efforts werenโ€™t recognised by the leader of the country

They are the leaders of the country. You need to park political opinion for occasions like this.

So it seems you canโ€™t comment on a photo without being accused of Trolling. I never said they didnโ€™t deserve the reception (quite the opposite actually), I just think the photo call is cringe-worthy, not for the athletes, for the politicians!

The two boys should really get their own celebrations instead of stealing bolts and moโ€™s! They deserve their own.

    Tony
I think you are beginning to sound rather foolish.
Imagine an invitation from the Taoiseach to the athletes on our behalf where he doesnโ€™t turn up?
Would that be the type of ceremony you proposed today or even better lets tell the President to be absent in two weeks. Grow up. The State celebrated today with National heroes on our behalf and the State was represented by the Taoiseach.
    Build a bridge Tony.!

Mickโ€ฆ.how about if youโ€™re beloved Enda sponsored an event but stayed the f**k away from it. He could take all the kudos for organising it but keep sports politically neutralโ€ฆdo you not think that politics and political photo calls have no place in sport? A government that cuts special needs assistants on one hand and are hypocritical enough to pull this kind of a publicity stunt are irreprehensibleโ€ฆ

Perhaps the paralympians are happy for the elected Representatives of our Nation to honor them. If not then they had the choice of not attending. Just like that perhaps if there was a moan of the year gold medal and you won it (which u would) , you might like people to salute your effortsโ€ฆโ€ฆ which are great and plentiful because u never stop moaning.

    Who are you talkinโ€™ to!
Iโ€™m very happy that these heros are being honoured.
If people are unhappy that the โ€œmenโ€ cutting their support funding feel the need to hug them for a photo op, then thatโ€™s fair enough.
(example: last week was international mental health week, Ireland cut 55 million from MH funding)
