Ireland U17 squad to face Azerbaijan announced

Next week’s friendly double-header will be coach Tom Mohan’s first in charge of the Ireland U17s.

TOM MOHAN HAS announced his Republic of Ireland U17 squad for next week’s friendly double-header against Azerbaijan in Mayo.

Nineteen youngsters, the majority of whom are now based in England, make up the panel for the games in Castlebar’s Milebush Park on Tuesday 28 August (6pm) and Thursday 30 August (noon).

The matches will be Mohan’s first as U17 head coach and will give him a chance to settle on a squad ahead of next month’s first phase UEFA qualifying tournament.

Ireland take on Sweden, Romania and hosts Macedonia from 29 September to 4 October with the top two teams in each group progressing to next year’s elite phase.
