Keiren Westwood – 6 Didn’t have a single save to make in the first half but kept his concentration well and was good to see him play the ball out short regularly.
Seamus Coleman – 6 Would liked to have seen him get forward more often, particularly in the first half, but on the rare occasion he did, it resulted in a goal.
John O’Shea – 6 The Sunderland skipper and Wilson were given an easy ride by Sabala, Verpakovskis and Visnakovs but he led from the back by putting in a no-nonsense shift.
Marc Wilson – 7 Looked comfortable at centre-half and was keen to bring the ball out of defence when he had the chance. Great to have his versatility in the squad.
Stephen Ward – 6 Must be delighted to be back in the international fold and did okay without being spectacular at left-back.
Aiden McGeady – 7 Should be happy with his performance after scoring a third international goal with a decent strike. Was given licence to come inside at times and put in the cross for Keane’s opener.
Glenn Whelan – 6 There to provide a screen with McCarthy and had the chance to pick out a number of long passes as he was rarely put under any pressure in possession.
James McCarthy – 6 A tidy display from the 23-year-old and kept the ball moving well.
James McClean – 8 The Wigan winger was a real threat down the left and has definitely rediscovered the confidence which saw him burst onto the scene. Missed a great chance in the second half.
Wes Hoolahan – 7 Relished the chance to start as he isn’t getting in at Norwich at the moment. Constantly buzzing about eager to receive the ball and creating openings before coming off.
Robbie Keane – 6 The captain took his international tally to an incredible 62 goals but wasn’t involved in a lot of the build-up play.
Substitutes
Shane Long – 6 Got himself on the scoresheet from close range after coming on as part of a triple substitution.
Jon Walters -6 Had a hand a well-worked third goal.
Andy Reid – 6 Eager to get on the ball and had a good effort batted away. Also started the build-up for Long’s goal.
Kevin Doyle - Didn’t get long enough to impress.
Anthony Stokes - Had a fine effort but not on long enough.
Paul Green - Like Doyle and Stokes, only afforded a cameo.
