Ireland's Kevin Long signs new contract with Burnley after being ruled out for season

The player made his Premier League debut on New Year’s Day.

IT’S BEEN A rollercoaster week for Burnley’s Irish defender Kevin Long.

The player made his Premier League debut on New Year’s Day but lasted just 21 minutes, after suffering a cruciate knee injury during his side’s clash with Newcastle.

Nevertheless, despite reports ruling the 24-year-old out for the rest of the season, the club have confirmed that they have agreed a new deal for the ex-Cork City player to extend his stay at the club until June 2017.

The player made 11 appearances for the club in the Championship last year, and has also had loan spells at Accrington Stanley, Rochdale and Portsmouth since joining the Turf Moor outfit in 2009.
