Lucky Boy

Ireland run riot but was Kolelishvili lucky to escape punishment for this stamp?

It mattered little in the grand scheme of things, mind.

AFTER AN ATTRITIONAL first-half, Ireland have broken Georgia’s resistance with six second-half tries to make it two wins from two in the November series.

The visitors would have been happy with their work in the first 40 as a reshuffled Ireland side struggled to convert their dominance into points.

As expected, Georgia were combative at the breakdown and made life difficult for Ireland’s forwards. However, should referee JP Doyle have shown Viktor Kolelishvili a red card for this apparent stamp on Dominic Ryan?

Georgia’s resistance was broken after the restart, however. With Giorgi Begadze in the sin-bin, Ireland made their numerical advantage count as Kilcoyne and then Strauss crossed the line.

Nemsadze exploited a brief lapse in concentration to score Georgia’s only points before Simon Zebo, a double from Felix Jones and Stuart Olding added further gloss to the scoreline.
