BRIAN O’DRISCOLL SAYS himself and Jamie Roberts can make an even bigger impact in the Lions’ midfield — if they get the chance again.
The star centres joined forces for yesterday’s 64-0 win against Combined Country, the first time that they have played together since the second Test in South Africa in 2009.
O’Driscoll crossed for one of the Lions’ 10 tries in another performance which underlined his claim to start the first test against Australia.
It didn’t take long for himself and Roberts to tune in to one another, he explained afterwards.
“There were some really good things: we read off each other relatively well, and it was nice to pick up where we left off four years ago,” O’Driscoll told the Lions website.

“It’s always nice when you know the people you’re playing with, but we definitely left a couple of plays out there. He threw one great ball to me that I knocked on in the second half that I should have gotten away.
“But there’s good intuition there and hopefully we might get another opportunity at some stage to play with one another on the tour.”
Meanwhile new recruit Simon Zebo could see his first Lions action against the Waratahs this weekend. Coach Warren Gatland is expected to name his team for Saturday’s match tomorrow.
