Into the west: Borlase joins Connacht on loan

Munster also confirm that Fijian back Savenaca Tokula will join the province for the remainder of the season.

CONNACHT HAVE STRENGTHENED their injury-hit front row by picking up Munster tighthead Peter Borlase on loan.

Borlase, 26, joins Eric Elwood’s men with immediate effect as cover for the injured Dylan Rogers (hamstring) and Rodney Ah You (foot).

The New Zealander has struggled to hold down a regular place since he joined from the Canterbury Crusaders at the start of last season, and has not been involved in the RaboDirect Pro 12 at all this season due to injury.

Munster have also confirmed that versatile Fijian back Savenaca Tokula will join the province for the remainder of the season.

Tokula, who can play either at outside centre or on the wing, joins from Waikato in New Zealand. The 26-year-old also featured for the Chiefs in the Super 15 last season.

Tokula is expected to arrive in Munster this weekend, and will provide some extra reinforcement in the backs while centres Tom Gleeson (shoulder) and Troy Smith (knee) recover from injury.
