Sweden recorded a 3-2 victory over Iceland in an international friendly in Gothenburg on Wednesday.

Early goals from Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Ola Toivonen put the hosts in the driving seat before Kolbein Sigthorsson pulled one back for Iceland before half-time.

Christian Wilhelmsson put the result beyond doubt with nine minutes remaining.

SonderjyskE defender Hallgrimur Jonasson headed home to grab a consolation goal for the visitors in added time.

Sweden will look to build on the result when they take on Serbia next week, before facing co-hosts Ukraine in their opening Euro 2012 fixture on June 9.

The Netherlands overcame a shock defeat to Bulgaria over the weekend by accounting for Slovakia 2-0.

An eighth-minute own goal from Kornel Salata and a strike from substitute Rafael van der Vaart 15 minutes from time sealed victory for Bert van Marwijk’s side in Rotterdam.

The Dutch take on Northern Ireland in their final pre-Euro 2012 warm-up on Sunday.

Elsewhere, Spain comfortably accounted for South Korea 4-1.

Fernando Torres opened the scoring for the world and European champions after 11 minutes but Suwom Bluewings midfielder Do-Heon Kim smashed home an equaliser a minute before the interval.

Xabi Alonso restored the advantage for the Spaniards followed by a Santi Carzola free-kick that made it 3-1.

Alvaro Negredo added a fourth in the last nine minutes when he tucked the ball home through the legs of South Korea goalkeeper Jin-Hyeon Kim.

In Wednesday’s other international matches, a 56th-minute goal from Gheorghe Grozav was enough for Romania to claim a 1-0 win over Switzerland, while Azerbaijan and Andorra played out a scoreless draw.
