Your country needs you, Paul: Trap calls up McShane for Bosnia Herzegovina

Ireland could be without four of their starting back five for Saturday’s warm-up game at the Aviva Stadium.

THINGS SEEM TO be going from bad to worse for Giovanni Trapattoni this week as Sean St Ledger is the latest player who could possibly miss the friendly game this weekend.

The fitness of Richard Dunne, John O’Shea and Shay Given, who is set to see a knee specialist in London, means the Italian is unlikely to risk any of that trio for the visit of Bosnia Herzegovina at Lansdowne Road on Saturday.

Wolves defender Kevin Foley could also miss out due to a hamstring injury and now first choice centre-half St Ledger may be told to rest ahead of next month’s European Championships.

Trap has decided to draft in an extra defender on a temporary basis and Paul McShane has been given the nod over Everton’s Seamus Coleman.

“Paul McShane has been called in as an additional player to the squad to provide extra cover in defence,” the FAI told TheScore this afternoon.

Paul will join up with the squad in Portmarnock this evening. All other players remain in the squad.”
