Indian footballer, 28, dies on pitch after cardiac arrest - reports

Venkatash collapsed while playing for Bangalore Mars and, without adequate medical attention on the sideline, was dead on arrival at the nearest hospital.

IF THE EXCELLENT and immediate response of the medical staff at White Hart lane required further praise, this is surely it.

Today, the Times of India report than an Indian footballer died in Bangalore after collapsing on the pitch.

The cause is believed to be cardiac arrest.

On Saturday evening, Fabrice Muamba suffered the same trauma, but thankfully the actions of medical staff on-hand have set him back on the road to recovery.

The Premier League was not always so organised and today’s death is a stark reminder of how easily tragedy can strike.

Reports from Bangalore say that the match in the BDFA A Division league, the top division of the Karnataka region, between Bangalore Mars and South Western Railway was approaching the 90th minute when Venkatesh, 28, collapsed.

Without adequate medical attention or the availability of an ambulance, Venkatesh was reportedly transported to Hosmat Hospital on motorised rickshaw.

He was dead on arrival.

Coyle hopeful of ‘complete’ Muamba recovery
