OWEN FARRELL’S TWO fourth quarter penalties in the Aviva Stadium yesterday quashed a dream of ours here in TheScore.ie rugby shed.
We pictured a day when England teams would come across the sea – young men, women, amateurs and ex-pros alike – and get soundly beaten back out the gate.
The performance of Ireland’s women (who not only defeated their world-renowned English counterparts for the first time, but hammered them 25-0) made it all seem real on Saturday afternoon.
Then the rain started… so near, and yet so far.
