OLYMPIC CHAMPION Usain Bolt expects to seal yet more glory at the London games.
The Jamaican rose to prominence at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games where he took gold in the 100 metres, 200m and the 4x100m relay.
Bolt has struggled for fitness and form but the 25-year-old was back to his best last time out, recording a time of 9.76 to beat compatriot Asafa Powell in the Rome leg of the Diamond League.
“We’re just looking at technique right now, we’re not really stressing about times because we know I’m fast, without a doubt I’ve got speed so it’s all about getting everything together so on the day it’s going to be perfect and I’m going to be ready in tip-top shape,” he said.
Speaking at the launch of Jamaica’s latest kit for the London Olympics, Bolton said he could not wait to compete.
“It’s going to be like being home. It’s going to be… there are no words to explain Jamaicans more than ‘loud’, we’re very loud,” Bolt said. ”Imagine if you see 10 Jamaicans in the bar and you listen to them talking and they start getting louder and laughing and stuff. Imagine a whole crowd of those people.
“For me it’s going to be brilliant because I feed off the energy and I just know it’s going to be wonderful.”
His time of 9.76 in the Italian capital was a season best this year and the equal-fastest Bolt has run since he broke his own world record at the world championships in Berlin in 2009 and he is feeling good.
“It’s looking good and I’m happy where it is so we can tell that it’s going to be business as usual so for me I’m excited now,” he said. ”I’m looking forward to it and I really want the season to get on and everybody to get fit.
“Have the trials now so we can see where everybody is because everybody goes to their national trials and then you can say ‘all right he’s in great shape, he’s going to need some more work.
“I have to watch all of them but right now everybody is kind of on a level playing field.”
Whilst everything seems to be going to plan with his performance on the track, Bolt is also delighted with the kit he’ll be wearing in London and in particular one item of clothing.
“The jacket, I like when it’s buttoned up, I look like an army, like a general shouting out commands so for me I love it.”
