STEPHEN HUNT WILL see a specialist to finally determine the extent of his ongoing groin problem, Wolves confirmed this afternoon.
The Ireland winger may need surgery and was forced to sit out training yesterday as the midlands club continue to fight for the Premier League status.
“Stephen pulled out of training yesterday and he’s seeing a specialist. It’s the ongoing stuff with his groin,” said manager Terry Connor. “He felt it in training on Monday and, although he trained on Tuesday, the general consensus was that he should get it looked at.
“We feel the best thing is for the doctors to take another look and see if they can get to the root of the problem. I don’t know if he will need surgery or not but it’s clear something is still bothering him. Rather than keeping going, the best thing is to seek another medical opinion.”
Meanwhile, Ireland manager Giovanni Trapattoni was in Dublin yesterday to meet with An Taoiseach, Enda Kenny, ahead of their visit to Croagh Patrick later this month.
And the Italian told reporters that talismanic defender Richard Dunne is aiming to return to club action by the end of April.
“I was in touch with him and he said ‘Mister, I am well, I am confident that I play maybe the last game in April for Aston Villa,” Trap said.
