Worth it?

How much would you pay for eight nights in Poland next summer?

The FAI’s official partners have announced details of their three-match packages.

THE FAI’S OFFICIAL partner Abbey Travel will get you to Poland for all of Ireland’s Group C games in June – but it won’t come cheap.

The company has announced details of its three-match packages for the fixtures with Croatia, Spain and Italy, which are set at €2349 per person.

Included in the deal are flights, transfers and eight nights at a three-star hotel with bed & breakfast. They are also the only Irish travel agency licensed to guarantee face value match tickets, but they come at extra cost.

Accommodation in the cities of Poznan and Gdansk has taken an enormous price hike for the one-month period, which may explain the fact that you could theoretically avail of Abbey’s day trips (between €519 and €559 each) and get to the three matches while saving €700 on the price of their eight-night equivalent.

Irish fans who intend to take in Giovanni Trapattoni’s side as they compete in a major tournament for the first time in 12 years have been weighing up the various travel options since the  fixtures were revealed at the start of this month, with many deciding to book flights to a number of German cities in an attempt to keep spending down.

Club Travel are also doing similar deals while Ryanair revealed last week that they have scheduled same-day specials.
