CRISTIANO RONALDO STILL believes Real Madrid will win the La Liga title despite Sunday’s 1-1 draw against Malaga on Sunday.
Karim Benzema gave Real the lead in the 35th minute, but Santi Cazorla’s late equaliser earned his team a point, much to the disappointment of Ronaldo.
“We still have an eight-point lead and there’s nothing to worry about because the league is far from over,” Cristiano Ronaldo told the official Madrid website. ”Malaga are a good side, hard to play against, but we didn’t expect this result. That’s football for you.
“We were unlucky to concede the equaliser in injury time after dominating the whole match, but we’re calm about it. We suffer when we don’t score.”
Meanwhile, midfielder Xabi Alonso said real paid for their mistakes against Malaga.
“It’s a shame that we didn’t score a second goal, and you pay for your mistakes. It doesn’t matter though, because the league is far from over,” Alonso told the website.
“Malaga played very well in the first half and created danger for us, but we had many chances to finish off the match in the second half. It’s a shame we didn’t. We have to take things slowly and continue to try winning each game we play.”
Madrid have collected 71 points from 27 games, eight points clear of Barcelona in second. Jose Mourinho’s side travel to Villarreal on Wednesday.
