He's back... Roy Keane set for Champions League final run out

Former Manchester United and Ireland skipper will offer his frank appraisal of the action at Wembley for one TV station.

HE HASN’T GONE away you know.

Manchester United fans will be treated to the company of Roy Keane tomorrow night as their former skipper joins Adrian Chiles in the ITV studio at Wembley.

The station this morning confirmed to TheScore.ie that the Corkman will be part of their UEFA Champions League final coverage.

Keane’s former club Manchester United are slight underdogs against Pep Guardiola’s Barcelona.

A station spokesperson confirmed they’d managed to persuade Keane to join them beneath Wembley’s arch for the duration.

The controversial midfielder was shown the Old Trafford exit, of course, when he unleashed a scathing critique of his team-mates on MUTV.

The Leesider said of the club’s record signing, Rio Ferdinand, “just because you are paid £120,000-a-week and play well for 20 minutes against Tottenham, you think you are a superstar.

“The younger players have been let down by some of the more experienced players. They are just not leading. There is a shortage of characters in this team. It seems to be in this club that you have to play badly to be rewarded. Maybe that is what I should do when I come back. Play badly.”

The footage – scheduled as part of the Roy Keane Plays the Pundit slot on Old Trafford’s in-house TV – was pulled at the insistence of the irate manager. Keane then left the club.

Some more of that might make some interesting viewing tomorrow evening.
