ANDREW TRIMBLE’S STORMING finish from Ruan Pienaar’s sublime pass against Connacht last month claimed Try of the Year at tonight’s RaboDirect Pro12 awards in Dublin.

The winger’s gong was one of four awards lifted by Mark Anscombe’s table-toppers as the province also claimed the Fair Play Award while Nick Williams and Luke Marshall were awarded Players’ Player and Young Player of the Season respectively.

Connacht and Leinster completed Ireland’s provincial interest in the awards ceremony as Michael Swift came away with the Chairman’s Award for outstanding service to both Connacht and the League after he became the first player to pass 150 league appearances early this season, his 12th in the Celtic/Magners or Pro12 league.

At the other end of the experience spectrum, Ian Madigan received the Rhino Golden Boot award after he took up the mantle about to be vacated by Jonathan Sexton by achieving an 87% success rate off the tee. That’s 24 conversion, 36 penalties and nine misses.

Other winners on the night:

Coach of the Season: Gregor Townsend.

Rhino Collision Kings: Llanelli Scarlets

RaboDirect Straight Talking Award: Alun Wyn Jones.
