Here’s a video of a punch-up between two runners in Monaco this weekend

The French middle distance athletes have both apologised after embarrassing carry-on.

Two French middle-distance runners, Mehdi Baala and Mahiedine Mekhissi Benabbad, have been provisionally suspended by the French Athletics Federation after the pair came to blows at the Diamond League meeting in Monaco.

The duo had finished down the field in the 1500 metres, before Baala appeared to headbutt his compatriot. It sparked a ridiculous fight that had to be halted by race.

Both men have been called to explain their actions before an FFA disciplinary committee, due to be convened in the coming days.
