ARSENAL LEGEND THIERRY Henry says that he could not believe that some of the club’s fans had abused Arsene Wenger after their 3-2 defeat at Stoke City in December, initially believing it was a joke.
The Gunners were beaten at the Britannia Stadium after going three goals down by half-time in a nightmare display and some supporters were caught on video aiming jeers and insults at Wenger as he and the team boarded a train home.
Henry, who ended his playing career after New York Red Bulls’ season came to a close in 2014, was horrified by the reception to such a key figure in the team’s recent history.
“I thought it was a joke when I first heard about it,” he told The Independent.
“You can be upset, I totally understand that but, when I saw what had happened at Stoke, it was totally unnecessary. Fans do have a voice but that was out of order.

Arsenal extracted some revenge on Sunday when they beat Stoke 3-0 at the Emirates Stadium in the reverse fixture, with Laurent Koscielny and two Alexis Sanchez goals securing a comfortable win.
