DAN BIGGAR MISSED five placed kicks for Ospreys but the Pro12 champions produced a spirited performance to draw 15-15 with Leicester Tigers.
The result leaves Tigers second in Pool 2 on 16 points ahead of a home tie against Toulouse, who defeated Treviso, next weekend.
The fact that Leicester could not get the win at the Liberty Stadium means Leinster and Munster are right in the mix-up for a quarter-final slot.
Ospreys made all the early running but the normally reliable Biggar missed three penalties in succession before landing a 28th minute effort. Number 8 Joe Bearman grabbed the game’s first try five minutes later and Biggar got the extras.
Toby Flood kept his side in touching distance with a penalty before scrum-half Ben Youngs pounced for a try on 67 minutes. Flood added the extras and the game was level.
Dubliner Niall Morris, who played three seasons at Leinster, almost stole the game for the visitors when he dived over in the right-hand corner but Flood missed the conversion and the home side charged back.
Replacement back Jonathan Spratt croosed over for a try with five minutes to go but the tight ankle proved too much for Biggar.
Toulouse go top
Bennetton Treviso pushed Toulouse close for 45 minutes before a raft of substitutions and a yellow card for Michele Rizzo gave the French side the opening the gleefully took.
The scores were level at 14-14 after 40 minutes but four changes were made at the start of the second-half and French pressure soon told.
Vincent Clerc cradled a crossfield kick to dive over for Toulouse’s third try before Florian Fritz and Yoann Huget dashed over for late scores that confirmed and celebrated the bonus point victory.
The 35-14 triumph puts Toulouse on 18 points ahead of their visit to Welford Road next weekend.
