Heineken Cup: Ulster and Leinster face Saturday deciders as fixtures confirmed

Munster’s will be the last Irish province to tempt fate with a Sunday sermon against Racing Metro.

ERC RUGBY HAS confirmed the dates, times and venues for Heineken Cup rounds five and six.

Ulster Rugby will have an early opportunity to set right their loss to Northampton Saints when they take on Glasgow Warriors at Ravenhill on Friday, 11 January from 8pm.

Connacht, needing bonus point wins and major miracles, visit The Stoop on Saturday, 12 January [1:35pm] to take on Harlequins.

Eric Elwood’s men lost out 25-17 away to Quins last October and will not be cowed by the English team’s unbeaten run in Europe this season.

On the same day, Leinster play host to Scarlets [from 6pm] at the RDS and know that only a bonus point victory will keep their cup hopes alive.

Munster, edged out by Saracens on Sunday, take on Michael Bradley’s Edinburgh at Murrayfield from 12:45pm.

Round 6

Connacht wrap up their pool three campaign with a home tie against Zebre at the Sportsground on Friday, 18 January [8pm].

Ulster will face a stern examination from Castres at Stade Pierre Antoine from 2:35pm on Saturday, 19 January.

Joe Schmidt’s Leinster, if they are still in contention for the knock-out stages, will be hoping to beat Exeter Chiefs by a bigger margin than the 9-6 scoreline that saw them home at the RDS in October.

The Heineken Cup holders will take on the Chiefs from 6pm at Sandy Park.

Once again, Munster are the last of the provinces in action. Rob Penney’s charges face Racing Metro on Sunday, 20 January [12:45pm] at Thomond Park.

Sky Sports will cover the four provinces in action during round five. Television scheduling for round six has yet to be confirmed.
