Heading home: Keith Earls out of second NZ test through injury

It looks like the Munster centre will be replaced by Gavin Duffy, as Ireland look to avenge the 42-10 mauling they took on Saturday.

KEITH EARLS IS out of Ireland’s second test against New Zealand after picking up a pectoral muscle injury in the first match on Saturday.

The Munster centre is now likely to be replaced by Gavin Duffy, while Declan Fitzpatrick and Cian Healy are also major doubts.

After the first match against New Zealand, which ended in a rout for the home side, Ireland captain Brian O’Driscoll told of his obvious disappointment at such a poor showing.

“For a team that hasn’t had an outing since the World Cup that was a good standard.

“But I think we probably helped a little bit in the amount of turnovers we conceded. They’re definitely one of the best teams in the world on turnover football, they made us pay a couple of times,” O’Driscoll understated.
