HAWK-EYE WILL NOT feature in this afternoon’s All-Ireland semi-final between Clare and Limerick after it failed to register a clear point in the Minor semi-final at Croke Park.
The camera system proclaimed a point from Limerick’s Barry Nash was a miss despite the umpire raising the white flag to signal a point. Referee Fergal Hogan referred it to Hawkeye and farce ensued.
Supporters at home, and viewing proceedings television, watched a replay of Nash’s score, the Hawkeye replay confirmed it then declared ‘Miss’. The effort was ruled out and the Limerick players were livid. The game ended level and Galway won 0-23 to 0-20 after extra-time.

Hawkeye is having none of it.
Michael Lyster on The Sunday Game was given confirmation by GAA officials that Hawk-Eye would be ‘stood down’ for the remainder of the Minor match, which went to extra time, and the clash between Clare and Limerick.
You can check out the video of the meltdown moment here>>
Here’s an idea… Use the TV replay instead of the Crock-eye.
Nah, sure that would have made too much sense
Too cheap too, you know money has got to change hands a few times and bribes have to be given.
Sometimes is difficult to tell from TV replays whether the ball has gone between the sticks or not and you wouldn’t want to be relying on RTE cameramen anyway
Why is that Aidan?
Maybe we could Sellotape one of the umpires up onto the top of one of the posts? Easier to confirm that way.
Best comment ever!!!! ahhaha
Did they try turning it off and on again? Works for most gadgets.
Hawkeye should’ve gone to specsavers!
they did and got sponsorship; a sinking ship as it turned out !
Hawkeye for Taoiseach
It’s Enda Kenny’s fault!
I’d blame Gilmore, the bollix.
Ian that just had me in fits of laughing top class !!
What about the fella who invented it useless backstard!
Gaa isn’t an amateur sport for nothing
Hawkeye innovations is the technology vendor, where GAA is only one of a number of customers. Tennis, baseball been others. Get the facts straight http://www.hawkeyeinnovations.co.uk/page/sports-officiating/gaa
How about training the feckin umpires, some of them lads haven’t a clue what’s hoing on
Umpire was on the ball on this one to be fair. Ref unnecessarily called hawk eye.
The umpire strikes back
Goid one, Derek!
Wonder why the ref felt he had to check with Hawk Eye when both the goalie and the umpires thought it was a point.
Jaysus the amount of ‘ I told you so’ Granddads on here is unbelievable.
I knew there would be.
Had to happen!
Well…I hate to say I told you so :P
Ah grandad tis yourself!
You can never trust anything with only one eye!!!
I cant get my head around how Hawkeye said it was a miss due to the fact the software itself could see it was inside the posts.
if (redline displayed insided post) {
document.write(“Point”);
} else if (redline displayed outside post) {
document.write(“Miss”);
}
some geek switched “Point” for “Miss” in the software on the sly this morning I reckon !!!
I’m off to the shop to buy tinfoil!!!!
Is say the Hawkeye boys are on overtime today, big boo boo.
God damn it, Hawkeye! You had only one job!
Not for much longer
How about introducing a Hawkeye to monitor the Hawkeye
The unit installed in croke park came out of a box that said “I can’t believe its not Hawkeye”.
The report into what went wrong here will be interesting. I can’t believe that the system wasn’t extensively tested before introduction.
“Made in China”
This happened very early in the match as well, maybe in the first 5 mins.
So hawkeye wasn’t even tired at that stage.
Fantastic, isn’t technology MARVELOUS, when it works,
Surely Limerick is entitled to a rematch now. Every body except Hawkeye accepts that it was a point…so…when is replay???
Limerick robbed
Ha ha
Shitehawking more like…..
Hawkeye gone cross eyed
So it cost limerick a final place!
JP ,,That idea just 2 clever
At this stage Everybody accepts that Hawkeye got it wrong, and it was a point for Limerick..so Limerick must appeal this result and must must be awarded the match..They won it fair. A failed piece of equipement should not decide such an important match.
Maybe it needs new batteries
Maybe it was done on purpose so the GAA would have an excuse to get rid and keep more dosh.
Yea Alan, thats surely it! You make so much sense!!
Reminds me of the troubles they had with hotspot in the Ashes !
Bet you no one seen that coming. Not even hawkeye!!
*saw
Perfect
Should have gone to specsavers !
Yes you should have……that’s in the story and your only the 3rd with that comment.
Should have gone to Spec – d’oh!
What a joke of a ref not to over rule a blatant error. HE should be stood down.
Junkie Joe was on it after he took the rat poison I gave him. He thought twas coke.
So how much did GAA invest in hawk eye technology ? Hope the Specsavers deal is covering it !
They invested nothing. Hawkeye provided the service for free, all they wanted was the advertising space. So, yes, Specsavers are covering it.
Not correct. Bout 250k ploughed into it already
Similar to the electronic voting fiasco of the naughties!!! This technology lark is the bane of our lives!!
Technological ireland is dead and gone, it’s with the electronic voting machine in the grave.
In the bin with the e voting machines ah sure money no problem to our elite
Hacked eye?
Hawkeye is an excellent idea and I am sure the problems with it can be sorted.
Would be funny if Hawkeye made a mistake in the Chelsea v Hull game.today
Hawk eye consists of two guys sitting up behind the posts with two buttons
Score and Miss – u dont actually think the Gaa spent money on this do ya
I bit of murphyquizm graphics and press the button
Easy as that- I think all games that have used hawk eye verdicts should be replayed – sh*t in the eye of the Gaa embarrassing
What you on about you clown? Dope
Sliothar travels very fast
Hawk on hawkeye.
That hawkeye is a real shitehawk!
Hawkeye’s got depth perception problems!
