RICKY NIXON, THE Aussie Rules super-agent at the centre of allegations by a 17-year-old girl, is thought to be on his way to Ireland.
The AFL player-manager has attracted some of the GAA’s brightest young talents down under in the past. He left Australia on Monday night (Monday morning Irish time) as yet more damaging tapes emerged.
As reported here, accusations began to surface last week when the teenager at the centre of the St Kilda nude photo scandal told journalists that she had an “affair” with Nixon.
The coach subsequently informed reporters that he had visited the girl in her hotel room on Sunday night and again on Valentine’s Day, though he denied having an affair.
Friday’s Melbourne Herald Sun quoted the agent as saying that “in hindsight my dealings with this girl were inappropriate and I regret them. I won’t be seeing her again.”
Yesterday, videos were made public that allegedly depicted the 47-year-old in a hotel room in his underwear with the girl. There is also a white powder on an adjacent table.
Nixon’s alleged conduct could lead to his deregistration as a player manager, with the association meeting later to decide his fate.
Destination Ireland?
The Sigerson weekend – where the top university footballers are on show – is less than a fortnight away. Nixon has attended the games in the past. Other media organisations last night suggested that he would turn up in New York but at this stage, it seems, Dublin’s T2 is his terminus.
The Sydney Morning Herald reports: “On Monday, he flew to London en route to Ireland, however, it was revealed yesterday authorities were informed in advance. Mr Nixon has business interests in Ireland.”
Australian Twitter users were quick to have their say about the controversial agent’s preferred destination.
