Harry Redknapp to undergo minor heart op, miss Russia trip

Spurs coaches will look after first team on Europa League trip to Rubin Kazan.

TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR MANAGER Harry Redknapp will miss his side’s Europa League clash with Rubin Kazan tomorrow night as he is due to have ‘minor’ heart surgery.

The 64-year-old checked into hospital last night, 48 hours ahead of the showdown with the Russians, in Shamrock Rovers’ Group A.

The White Hart Lane club confirmed this morning that Kevin Bond and Joe Jordan will take care of the fist team.

One or both of the two coaches will take the obligatory UEFA press conference this evening ahead of the game, in which details of Redknapp’s likely absence from work may be revealed.

The Sun columnist told the paper last night, however, that he hopes to be back on the sidelines within ‘a couple of days’.

Spurs are top of the group at the moment while Rovers, meanwhile, host PAOK Salonika at Tallaght in search of their first points.
