WICKLOW ARE ON the hunt for a new senior football manager after Harry Murphy’s departure from the position was confirmed today.

Murphy has been in charge of Wicklow for the last three years. In 2012, they lost out to Meath in the Leinster championship before beating Waterford and losing to Leitrim in the qualifiers.

Last year Wicklow overturned Longford in their opening game in Leinster before bowing out against Meath at the quarter-final stage. In the qualifiers they then crashed to a heavy defeat against Armagh.

This season they were beaten by Laois in the preliminary round in Leinster before defeating Offaly in the qualifiers and then exiting the championship at the hands of Sligo.

A native of Rathnew, Murphy had enjoyed success with his native club as he guided them to county titles between 2000 and 2003 along with a Leinster crown in 2001.
