Hansen hails El Nino's return

Liverpool fans and legend alike think the old Fernando is back.

LIVERPOOL LEGEND and BBC pundit Alan Hansen thinks the real Fernando Torres is back – after the Spaniard’s match-winning display on Merseyside yesterday.

The striker bagged two goals against visiting champions Chelsea after a period of bad form, niggling injuries and persistent rumours about his future.

But the former Anfield defender thinks that the brace yesterday will have done Torres the world of good. Writing in his Daily Telegraph column, he says:

Once he scored his first goal, he looked a totally different player and, the next time he received the ball, he immediately turned, ran at goal and shot.

It may have gone six yards wide, but what mattered was that he took the chance on.

His body language, even when he was scoring hat-tricks, has never been the best. But when he scored the second against Chelsea, you could see the relief on his face.

Dirk Kuyt, meanwhile, believes Liverpool can now beat anyone, the Press Association reports. Kuyt said:

You can see the quality and the strength is coming back into the team. Players are starting to get used to each other and the new players are starting to kick on. We were just playing better and better. If you beat Chelsea you have the chance to beat everyone.

It was a great result, it was a great team effort.

Their victory catapulted Liverpool  back up to ninth.

Afterwards, Linda Pizzuti, wife of new Liverpool owner John W Henry praised the for their “passion, humor and power” on Twitter, according to this evening’s Liverpool Echo.
