MASTERS WEEK AT Augusta National is full of traditions. One of the more unusual ones is when players attempt to skim a ball across the pond in front of the 16th green during their practice rounds.
Of course, by the law of averages and the fact that these are the world’s best golfers, there’s always a tiny chance that something magical will happen.
That “something” happened yesterday when Martin Kaymer pulled off the trick shot to beat all trick shots, skipping the ball across the water, down off the slope of the green and into the cup for a hole-in-one.
(The video isn’t great, but it’s better than nothing. Kudos to Shane Bacon of CBS’s Eye on Golf who appears to be the man who first unearthed the footage.)
No matter how well or badly the rest of the weekend goes, Kaymer can take his place alongside Vijay Singh in the Augusta hall of fame.

I have this ball. Martin even signed it!!!
Its not a hole in one surely? It’s not on a tee, and the “hole” is like 130 yards?
so many shots did he take?
doh!
