Hundreds of students join in for spine-tingling New Zealand schools haka

The pre-match war dances before the Auckland Grammar v King’s College fixture were memorable.

WE’RE USED TO seeing New Zealand rugby teams performing the pre-match haka, summoning their ancestors from the earth to give them strength as they go to battle on the pitch.

It can be spine-tingling when it’s just the players themselves who take part in their chosen haka, but when you add in hundreds of students things become even more awe-inspiring.

That’s exactly what happened before the recent 1st XV schools match between long-time rivals Auckland Grammar and King’s College. The former went on to win the clash on a 27-15 scoreline.
