GUILLERMO OCHOA PRODUCED one of the most memorable moments of the World Cup so far when he acrobatically denied Brazilian forward Neymar a goal with a remarkable save at his right post.
The Mexico ‘keeper’s heroics between the sticks were one of the major reasons Mexico secured a 0-0 draw against the hosts in yesterday’s Group A encounter. Ochoa’s wonderful stop immediately saw Twitter buzzing with mention of Gordon Banks, whose name began trending on the social network.
The video above shows the similarities between Ochoa’s save and that of Banks after Pele’s header during the 1970 World Cup in Mexico.
Ochoa’s Wikipedia page was updated following the draw with Brazil to include mention that he is now considered the “Mexican Jesus”.
