Group C results: Sweden edge past Faroes, Austria held by Kazakhstan

Some of the more highly rated sides failed to convince with their performances this evening.

SWEDEN HAD TO come from a goal down to beat the Faroe Islands this evening in Torshavn.

Rogvi Baldvinsson gave the hosts a shock lead on 57 minutes, before Alexander Kacaniklic equalised eight minutes later.

The gameโ€™s winner came from familiar source in the form of AC Milanโ€™s Zlatan Ibrahimovic, with 25 minutes remaining, as Sweden failed to convince in their second game of the qualifying campaign.

Meanwhile, Irelandโ€™s recent struggles against Kazakhstan were cast in a marginally more positive light, as Austria stuttered to a 0-0 draw with the Kazakhs in the Astana Arena.

Routine victory on the cards for Hodgsonโ€™s England>
