McDowell moves into contention for his first win of the season

G-Mac is two shots off the lead at the half-way stage of the RBC Heritage.

GRAEME MCDOWELL shot four-under par to join the leading contenders at the half-way stage of the RBC Heritage.

McDowell had last weekend off after missing the cut at the Masters but found his form to shoot five birdies on day two at Harbour Town.

A bogey five on the third hole was his only blip as the world number 18 carded a round of 67, leaving him two shots off the overnight leaders.

Kevin Streelman, Charley Hoffman and Steve LeBrun are in three-way tie at the top on six-under par while Luke Donald moved into contention with a 68.

Donald and Bill Haas are tied for second on five-under while Australia’s Marc Leishman, a surprise package at Augusta last week, is among the players clustered alongside McDowell a shot further back.

McDowell’s last win came at Tiger Woods’ World Challenge last December at Sherwood Country Club.
